SBA Mentor/Mentee Program
The mentor program connected incoming 1Ls with upperclassmen to alleviate the anxiety that comes with starting one’s legal education. Mentors provide advice about 1L courses, time management, work-life balance, and career strategies.

Career Development
SBA pursues student success during school as well as after graduation. In addition to regularly connecting students with successful attorneys, We hosted panels on different types of legal practice for 1Ls to broaden perspectives on what legal careers can look like.

Arkansas Barrister's Ball
Also referred to as “Law Prom” Barrister’s ball is the premiere social event of the year. The 2022 Barrister’s Ball brought students, their significant others, and staff together for a black tie event complete with student honors and organizational awards.

Intramural Sports
SBA hosted a dodgeball and kickball tournament for students eager to exercise their competitive spirits outside of the classroom. Our kickball tournament featured a faculty auction! Students were able to bid on group events with faculty. This event raised several thousand dollars for Arkansas Legal Aid.

Bar Reviews
Bar reviews are a staple of the law school experience. Bar review provides an alcohol-friendly space on Dickson for students to relax and socialize away from the constant pressure of school. SBA hosted three successful and safe bar reviews last year with plans to host even more this year.

Public Service
SBA leads by example by giving back to the wider community. Last year, SBA hosted a clothing drive for Afghan refugees displaced by the cessation of United States military efforts in the region and raised money for Arkansas Legal Aid through campus events.

Scavenger Hunt
To spread the love, SBA hosted a Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt. Students searched across Fayetteville for clues. Although unsuccessful in finding true love, one team was able to find all the clues and win a gift card to Arsaga’s coffee.

Bar Crawl for Bail Relief
Booze and justice- the twin passions of law students and lawyers. Law students made the rounds on Dickson in partnership with the criminal law society and black law student association. SBA was proud to raise funds to alleviate the destructive effects the cash bail system has on indigent defendants.

First-Year Spirit Week
During the Fall semester, SBA challenged the 1L class to show up and show out for their respective sections. Students were tasked with wearing their most extravagant interpretations of a given theme (Pajamas; Cowboys, etc.) each day.

A United Front
SBA champions the causes of the many student organizations within the Law School. SBA is proud to have partnered with the Black Law Student Association, the Women’s Law Student Organization, the Graduate and Professional Student Congress, and many other exceptional advocacy organizations.

LawHogs Tailgate
SBA partnered with the Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity and hosted a tailgate to watch the Razorbacks beat Mississippi State. The tailgate’s success in bringing the hogs to victory has inspired this year’s SBA leadership to host more tailgates and invest in making the Law School the most spirited department in the graduate school.
